Having heard so much about the conch fritters at Alabama Jacks on Card Sound in Key Largo in the past, we just had to check it out this time. The trick to finding it is to make a left off US 1 at the Last Chance Bar onto Card Sound Road. After a little ride down Card Sound Road, we came upon Alabama Jacks. It is a real roadhouse bar and restaurant with motorcycles parked out front and amazingly full the whole time that we were there. We were lucky to find 2 seats at the main bar and ordered the Seafood Sampler for 2 which consisted of ½ a side of fried shrimp, 1/4lb. of steamed shrimp, fish fingers, conch fritters, 2 crab cakes, and 3 sides of your choice. The food was delicious and plentiful, so plentiful that we had enough left over for a second and third meal. I must say that the conch fritter is definitely one of the best that I have ever had. The décor is roadhouse rustic so dress casually in true Americana style. They have live music and this place gets packed with customers on line and spilling into the parking lot waiting to get in and experience a good meal with friends and family in a secluded area and friendly environment. The view is very relaxing as it is located on a tranquil canal filled with wildlife.
