Remember that hidden gem, Nauti Dawg Marina Cafe? Well, get ready for some changes because it is being rebranded into Nauti Dawg Waterfront Restaurant and Bar! Doris and I, big fans of their delicious food, couldn’t resist a revisit. The timing was perfect – they’d just joined the Port 32 Marina family, and they are in the process of revamping the menu.
Plenty of parking that guides you towards a familiar sight – Adirondack chairs around a fire pit, a great area for after-dinner drinks with friends fireside under the stars. As we entered, we saw a friendly face – Heather, the new GM – who greeted us like old friends. We were introduced to the assistant GM, Jamie Batista who guided us through the restaurant and dining area to our table situated on the patio. A quick perusal through the drinks menu and we immediately spotted the frosty IBC Root Beer floats. And so we began our journey.
We then shifted our attention to the menu offerings and much to Doris’ amazement, there was The Beet Salad. She’s been adding more veggies lately and beets were her veggie of choice this week. What can I say, it can only be described as a masterpiece on a plate, it totally defied my expectations. Each ingredient added a surprising flavor and or texture to play a role in the work of art that it was. My Fried Shrimp Platter” deserves a promotion – colossal, golden-fried pillows of pure, juicy deliciousness. Chef Jovan Ferguson, stopping by to introduce himself and to ensure that everything was up to par, hinted that a future menu will be infused with Caribbean flair.
Nauti Dawg isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a feeling. It’s that relaxed, waterfront vibe that washes your worries away. Ann Mirisola, our server, made sure that we had everything that we needed to enjoy our visit perfectly. She’s been at this location for at least 23 years and her valued expertise was a breath of fresh air. Her suggestions were all on point and contributed to the delightful time we experienced.
We settled in, sipping our floats and enjoying our delicious morsels and conversation while appreciating the marina, the boats, the beautiful sky and the occasional clouds drifting by and peeking at us in our happy place.
So, waste no time. Set sail for Nauti Dawg Waterfront Restaurant and Bar. Enjoy quality time with loved ones. Enjoy lingering by the fire pit, a glass of wine in hand, the gentle lapping of water the only music you need.
P. S. You won’t regret it. And you too, will be back soon.
