Doc B’s Restaurant + Bar (Fort Lauderdale)

Way back in January we had plans to visit with a group of 10 guests, that were visiting from out of state but our plans fell through.

Finally, after the many false starts and the interesting twists that we have faced this year, we were able to visit this restaurant to see what they were all about.  We made our reservations as always on Open Table.  When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the hostess who then promptly seated us near the Open Kitchen which was so clean that I could see all that was going on in the kitchen in the reflection of the ceiling tile.  The hostess asked if we were familiar with QR Code menus and offered to show us how to pull up the menu on our smartphones.  We have been to many restaurants in this new era that offer the menu via QR Code and no one has ever offered to help.  I thought that it was an awesome touch of service since many of the technology-challenged would not know what to do.

They promptly took our drink order followed by the appetizer order.  For starters, we went with the House Made Guacamole that is served with Doc B’s “Famous Sweet Potato Chips”.  The Guacamole was super fresh and the flavor combo was spot on fantastic. For entrees, Doris ordered the Knife and Fork Cobb and I the Mediterranean Shrimp Salad.  Doris’ chicken was topped with gold coast vinaigrette; it was so delicious that she commented that she wanted to lick the plate.  Britney, the Manager made sure that we took home some cornbread croutons after Doris had commented that the cornbread croutons were a delicious choice. My salad was incredible and delicious.  Every single bite was a new flavor burst and all so fresh.  As for the dressing, well all that I can say about it is, “I want that recipe!” The avocado vinaigrette was absolutely sensational!

Our servers, Becca and Sam, who were shadowing her as part of his training, were professional, knowledgeable, and friendly.  It was Doris’ turn to pick the dessert and she chose Pumpkin Cheesecake which is served with a healthy dollop of fresh whipped cream. They were able to give great food and drink recommendations and we gladly took them as it was our first time dining there. All in all, it was a great experience and we look forward to heading back!
