Souvlaki Street is a quaint neighborhood Greek restaurant located in Sunrise. Our friends Patty and Joe had raved about them a few months ago. However, when we decided to go, they were closed for remodeling. Chef/owner Angelo Pyroulis wanted to completely redo the location from top to bottom, including all new kitchen equipment. As he has stated this is “His House” and he welcomes you, into his house. A few weeks after their Grand Opening we stopped in and checked them out.
What a wonderful surprise! Everything that we ordered was as good as, if not better than, Patty and Joe had described. This by definition is a true neighborhood gem. My only wish is that we lived closer to them. The decor is very Mediterranean, fresh, open, and clean. Doris ordered the Gyro Platter with Tzatziki, Pita & Side Greek Salad with Dressing, and Greek Fries. I ordered the Falafel Platter served with Garlic Tahini sauce, Tzatziki, Pita & Side Greek Salad with Dressing and lemon potatoes. First, I must tell you that the portion sizes are remarkably generous! Both dishes came with a Greek Salad that had to be one of the best that I’ve ever tasted. The serving size of the proteins was again absolutely incredible. We were so satisfied that Doris and I agreed to return one day soon to try some of the desserts. Again, this is a true neighborhood gem. If you live in the area, or find yourself nearby, do yourself a favor go there, and save room for dessert. A special Thanks to our foodie friends/family Patty and Joe for a great recommendation, as always. Don’t forget to let them know that their friends at SoFloDining sent you.
