Looking for a lively pub with delicious food and friendly faces? Look no further! A few weeks back, my wife Doris and I visited the Galway Shawl for their pre-St. Patrick’s Day Finnegan’s Wake, and what a blast it was! It turns out, we were recognized by some fellow patrons who follow our reviews on soflodining.com. Several of them raved about the shepherd’s pie, and let’s just say, their enthusiasm was contagious!
We decided to return for lunch the following week, and let me tell you, the Galway Shawl did not disappoint. The atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming, and the staff and patrons are just as friendly. Doris sipped on an iced tea with a kick (vodka, of course!), while I enjoyed a classic Jack and Coke.
For our appetizer, we shared the bangers and fries. These were top-notch! The bangers were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor. For my main course, I dove into a Reuben that was nothing short of amazing. The corned beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender and packed with flavor, unlike some bland Reubens you find out there. The cheese and sauerkraut were delicious compliments. Doris, taking the recommendations of our fellow patrons, ordered the shepherd’s pie. It was a classic preparation, beautifully presented with browned mashed potato peaks, and jam-packed with deliciousness. This is the dish I’ll be recommending to everyone who walks through the Galway Shawl’s doors.
Portion sizes were generous, so come hungry! The service was top-notch – friendly, hospitable, and welcoming. We felt right at home.
Whether you’re a Galway Shawl regular or a curious visitor, I highly recommend checking it out. You’re in for a treat!
