AND Fish Kitchen + Bar

This is yet another location that I’m ashamed to say we should have reviewed much sooner. Doris and I must have driven past here a hundred if not a thousand times.  We have seen advertisements for this restaurant in a few of the local tourist magazines and on A1A while driving to and from Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. I’ve had it on the list for a little over a year!  I decided this was the weekend to go.

They are located about one block south of the 14th Street Causeway in Pompano Beach Inside of Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa. Once we arrived we were greeted by a courteous and helpful valet parking attendant who reminded us to have our parking validated by the restaurant so we wouldn’t have to pay.  He directed us to walk through the lobby toward the back of the hotel where And Fish is located.

Once we were at the podium a very nice young lady greeted us and told us to sit where we would like.  Shortly after being seated our waiter Karim greeted us and presented us with menus. Shortly thereafter he took our drink orders Doris had The Perfect Pina Colada which is made with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, fresh pineapple juice, coconut cream, pineapple wedge & cherry.  She opted to make it a Chi-Chi swapping the Rum for Vodka. I ordered one of the house specialty drinks The Banana Old-Fashioned. Both drinks were good pours and on point but I must say that The Banana Old-Fashioned was like something I’ve never had before a true mixologist’s masterpiece. I will definitely be going back and specifically for that drink.

From the appetizer menu, we ordered the PEI Mussels that are made with Andouille Sausage, Oven Dried Tomatoes, Lemon Wine Butter Sauce, and a Garlic Crostini.  The mussels were absolutely delicious. I must note that the portion size was large enough for two.  Also, be advised that these could become very addictive. LOL. Doris ordered a bowl of fresh homemade tomato basil bisque soup that was simply out of this world. I’m not a big tomato soup eater but this is something I would recommend ordering without a doubt.

Karim offered a few recommendations for our entrees and Doris chose the Chefs Fresh Catch which was Mahi-Mahi served with Toasted Couscous, Squash, Zucchini, and Lemon Scented Parsley Brodo. I opted for the 6 oz Filet Mignon medium-rare served with roasted fingerling potatoes topped with a demi-glace.   My filet was cooked to perfect temp Doris’ Mahi was crisp, tender, and moist. Both entrees were exquisite. We left nothing on either plate!  And consequently, we had no room for dessert either.  After we were done we took a walk outside around the pool area where there is more table seating. We are already planning to go back for an al fresco lunch in the very near future.

Kudos to Chef Richard Pelliccia for creating a great menu that is packed with flavor.
