Anthony’s Clam House & Grill

Our visit started out fantastically as we entered the etched double-door entrance of the restaurant we immediately noticed the modern yet sophisticated décor.  After checking in for our reservation I saw a large bar where customers were enjoying their dinner as well as drinks. We were brought back to our table by the maitre’d who was most gracious.  On our way to the table, I noticed that the restaurant was much bigger than it seems from the outside.  There were at least 3 dining rooms and a huge wine cellar. From the minute we entered it was very apparent how clean the place is kept.  It was as if they had just opened for business.  Later on, the owner, Walter, joined us at our table and informed us that they had just recently celebrated their third anniversary.    Our waiter, Roberto, who is from Naples, Italy promptly brought us water and took our drink orders. He helped us with our selection of a very formidable wine list. We ordered the Grilled Octopus with Sautéed Broccoli Rabe, Cannellini Beans & Artichoke Hearts, and the Clams Casino for appetizers.  Both were beautifully presented and were delicious to the point that I could have had the Octopus as the main meal with the addition of some Orecchiette, just saying.

We then preceded the entrees Veal Parmesan and their signature Linguine Vongole (Linguini and White Clam Sauce). Both dishes again came out beautifully plated and generously portioned. The pasta on both dishes was perfectly al dente and with just the right amount of sauce. I must say the sauce on the Vongole was out of this world delicious to the point that I told Doris that if there were fewer people around I might have picked up my bowl and drank the remainder of my sauce.

Lastly, we partook in the dessert menu having been informed by our waiter that all desserts are made “in-house’. Our selections were the Lava Cake, Tiramisu, and Italian Ricotta Cheese Cake.  All were delicious and if I had to pick one, it would be the Tiramisu in keeping with the Italian theme.  Overall there are many great options on the menu from which to choose. The dinner prices are reasonable, and the lunch menu is economical. The service was good our waiter was very attentive and personable. Walter has done a great job in creating and maintaining this gem.  With so many Italian restaurants in the area, my opinion is without a doubt Anthony’s Clam House & Grill is the “go-to”.
