El Guanaco Taqueria Y Antojitos

WOW!! This little place is amazing and then some! This was our first time to an authentic Mexican and Salvadorian Restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was fresh and servers were very attentive. With the attention to detail and service you instantly get the feel of a family operation. Upon entering, we were offered a choice of inside or out back on their beautiful patio.  We were then presented with our menus and offered beverages.  They offer Horchata, Pineapple, Cantaloupe, Tamarind, Passion Fruit, and Chia Seed as well as Mexican Sodas, Margaritas, and Sangria.  We went with a Carafe of Sangria. In one word, Delicious! For our appetizer, we chose the Salvadorian Combo #1 which came with Chicken Tamale, Sweet Corn Tamale, Papusa, Fried Yucca, Salvadorian Cream, white cheese, pickled cabbage, red sauce, and spicy salsa verde.  All of it was incredibly wonderful an explosion of flavor in every bite.  For our main meals, we chose the Pollo a la Plancha (Grilled Chicken Breast with grilled onions) and a mixed plate of 3 tacos.  The portion sizes were very generous and the selection was one better than the next.  In fact, everything was so good we even did something that we never do on a first visit; we ordered food-to-go.  I noticed a board by the front door that had the daily specials listed and at the bottom was a dessert that we had to try. It was fresh Churros with vanilla ice cream and syrup. WOW is all that I can say because licking the plate in public would not be polite.

The prices are very reasonable and there are so many choices on the menu. The serving sizes are very generous and the flavors unmatched. I noticed a lot of ‘to go” and deliveries going out the door which is a very good sign of freshness and quality. They offer Papusas made to order, definitely worth the wait! I can’t wait to come back and try more things on the menu! We will definitely be coming back and we are bringing friends, family, and framily.
