Indian Harvest Restaurant

As Doris and I began our research visits for the best of Boca Raton Series we choose to start at Royal Palm Place since a few of our picks are located there.  After walking around and checking out several of the establishments on our list we were amazed that we both followed our noses guided by the aroma and delicious smells coming from The Indian Harvest Restaurant.

During our walk, we met a couple who were finishing up their meals and they highly recommended the restaurant and even suggested a few of the dishes.  Shortly after we were seated our server asked us if we were dining in or picking up a “to-go” order. We stated that we would like to dine in. (I did not take note of the hours, daily they close for a brief 2-hour period between 3 & 5 to reset the kitchen for dinner.) Our server Ramesh, who we eventually found out is the owner, stated that it was no problem and that he would take care of us. He cooked the food himself and served us which I thought was an impressive gesture.

For beverages, we both ordered the Mango Lassi which is a delicious and refreshing drink made with fresh yogurt or curd, milk, sweet mango slices (depending on preference) as well as a hint of cinnamon and ground cardamom. We then ordered a mix of appetizers and entrée.  Doris ordered the Lasooni Jhinga which were garlic marinated prawns that are sauteed with yogurt and spices.  I ordered the Chicken Tikkai Masala which was prepared with tender marinated cubes of chicken cooked in a rich creamy onion sauce and spices. I also had a side dish of Saffron Rice which was long-grain basmati rice cooked with saffron raisins and nuts. We also requested an order of Garlic Naan which came highly recommended.

First of all, I can only describe this meal as an explosion of flavor. Every bite was absolutely exquisite and perfectly presented all the way down to the side order of rice.

Doris commented that she could eat this food every day, and I concur with her on that thought.  The chicken was absolutely fork-tender with the seasoning and texture absolutely on point. The prawn dish was another masterpiece featuring garlic (a total Doris favorite).  Bite after bite nothing but an exciting mix of flavors.  I sincerely hope that the people who frequent this area know how lucky they are to have this wonderfully delightful establishment right in their backyard.

Ramesh was very friendly and welcoming.  After a few minutes of speaking with him, we realized that he was not just the server but the owner.  We were absolutely honored to have our dishes prepared by the owner.  On this visit we did not opt for dessert however we will most definitely be back again to partake in this delicious fare.

Overall, I loved the presentation and wide variety of traditional Indian dishes that are prepared to your spice preferences. Upon reviewing the menu offerings, I see many protein choices are available. Portion sizes were more than satisfactory, and the far range of flavors varied widely from entree to entree. They also have a wide variety of breads and chutneys from which to choose.  I must reiterate what an excellent experience and pleasant surprise this visit was.
