A Culinary Oasis in Oakland Park – Thanks to Patricia Botero, a Foodie and most importantly, an OG SoFloDiner!
Doris and I are absolutely thrilled to share our latest culinary adventure, and we must send a HUGE thank you to our fellow SoFloDiner, Patricia Botero, for putting Nour Thai Kitchen on our radar! This gem, located at 3554 NE 12th Ave in Oakland Park, is a true testament to authentic Thai flavors and impeccable hospitality.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere. We were incredibly fortunate to meet the owners, Ken and Edrick, who were gracious and accommodating hosts. Their passion for their cuisine and their dedication to providing an exceptional dining experience were evident in every detail. Thank you, Ken and Edrick, for making our evening so memorable!
Now, let’s get to the star of the show: the food! Nour Thai Kitchen delivers a symphony of flavors, textures, and aromas that transported us straight to Thailand. We started our meal with a selection of Oh so very delicious appetizers
- Chor Muang Steamed Butterfly Pea Flower Dumplings: These delicate dumplings, bursting with a blend of shrimp, pork, peanut, palm sugar, and Thai herbs, were a work of art and a delight to eat. The vibrant color and subtle flavors were simply divine.
- Crispy Money Bags: These deep-fried purses of deliciousness were filled with sweet potato, corn, peas, onion, and curry powder, and served with a tangy pineapple sauce. The contrasting textures and flavors were incredibly satisfying.
- Thai Pork Jerky: The deep-fried marinated pork tenderloin with Thai herbs was a flavor bomb! Perfectly seasoned and incredibly addictive, this dish had us craving more.
For our main courses, we savored:
- Thai Fried Rice: We opted for this classic dish with our choice of shrimp, and it was cooked to perfection. The fluffy rice was tossed with carrot, onion, scallions, cilantro, and egg, creating a harmonious blend of flavors and textures.
- Massaman Curry: This curry was rich, creamy, and complex. The coconut milk, Massaman curry paste, onions, sweet potato, cashew nuts, and avocado combined beautifully to create a dish that was both comforting and full of flavor.
And of course, no Thai meal is complete without a taste of their signature desserts!
- Mango Sticky Rice: A specially selected mango, sliced into thin, beautiful slices and served with sticky rice cooked with coconut milk and palm sugar, was the star. The unsweetened, slightly salty coconut sauce poured over the sticky rice provided a perfect balance of flavors, creating a journey of taste.
- Thai Donuts: These delightful treats, a cross between a beignet and a donut, were light and fluffy on the inside and firm on the outside. They were served with a floral and sweet pandan custard sauce. The sauce is made with eggs, evaporated milk, fresh pandan extract, palm sugar, and tapioca flour. The pandan custard sauce added a unique touch, elevating the dessert to another level of deliciousness.
Overall, our dining experience at Nour Thai Kitchen was exceptional. A Word of Wise (and Delicious) Advice: RESERVATIONS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! This place is popular, and for good reason. Trust us, you don’t want to miss out on this culinary experience. From the warm hospitality to the expertly crafted dishes, everything was as Patricia said it would be. It’s a culinary destination that we highly recommend to all food lovers seeking authentic Thai flavors and a truly memorable experience.
Stay tuned! We are excited to announce that we’ll be bringing you a future Chef’s Table interview with Ken and Edrick, so you can learn more about the culinary magic behind Nour Thai Kitchen. Also, be on the lookout for a feature in July’s special vegetarian issue of SoFloDining Magazine. You won’t want to miss it!
