Having recently enjoyed Lauderdale by the Sea Happenings’ Rick Tobin do a tour of the restaurant I knew days back that I had to put this on the SoFloDining Review List of places to go. I was very curious to see what Pinsa was all about.
They have an excellent selection of Brochette, Panini, Salads, Plates, and Pizzas both red and white. This restaurant offers a lot of the original authentic Italian flavors and offers a mixed atmosphere of a traditional restaurant and al-fresco cafe. This is a really great location with plenty of free parking just a block away from the center of LBTS. It’s a great spot to people watch too.
For starters, I would highly recommend the Avocado Brochette with a combination of ingredients that create a perfect balance of flavor that is unmatched. The bread was so delicious that I had to ask where they buy it from. Of course, you already know… They make it themselves! And it is Not for Sale. As for our main, we chose the Red Meat Lovers Pizza. Let me begin by telling you that they add the pepperoni and prosciutto at the end of the cooking process as to not have the meats break down in texture or flavor. They are very serious about their flavors. I can’t put it down into words how delicious this pizza is! You have to come and experience it for yourself.
Now a little bit about the Pinsa, pizza dough requires wheat flour, a bit of water, and a lot of salt, while Pinsa dough uses wheat/soy/rice flour, more water, and less salt, creating a lighter, airier crust. Pinsa also has fewer calories, lower fat, and less sodium than pizza. Pinsa dough is about 80% water and proofed for 72 hours. Pinsa is also much easier to digest than regular pizza.
There are plenty of great regular pizza options in the neighborhood, but once you have tried this pizza you will never think of regular pizza again. Especially if you are here on vacation – skip the regular pizza and treat yourself to something special like Excellent food and welcoming atmosphere. If you’re a Local – now you know where to go when you want to eat a Pinsa Pizza at an immaculately clean restaurant. I very highly recommend Due Compari.
Doris recommends that you save room for dessert! Also, enjoy a glass of wine from their extensive menu or perhaps a beer, or a flavored Pellegrino? We had the Lemoncello and it was a delight. There’s a display inside with specialty items from Italy as well as the many wines.
