Lazy Days South

Lazy Days South is located in the Marathon Marina and Boatyard.   They are easily accessible on foot, by car, or by boat.  We have had this restaurant recommended to us by friends and also while at the Visitor Center and we absolutely loved it.  The service was really good and the food was even better.

We stared with drinks and Doris had a Lazy Mule which is a classic Moscow Mule made with Smirnoff Vodka and ginger beer, served with fresh lime.   I don’t remember the name of the drink that I ordered but I know that it was blue and it was good.  LOL

For our lunches we ordered the Lion Fish and the Hog Fish Piccata Sandwiches.  They were both cooked perfectly and the taste was out of this world.  We actually asked for the sandwiches to be cut in half so that we could both try the 2 different sandwiches. Mena our server had the kitchen plate the sandwiches half and half so that we wouldn’t have to do a messy switch at the table.  Thank you, Mena, that was definitely an above and beyond service gesture that we truly appreciated.

From what we understand there usually is a long wait to be seated so it would be wise to make reservations.  We went at lunchtime so there was no wait for us.

They offer the most beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, Knights Key and the new Isla Bella Beach Resort.

Back in 2010, Lazy Days’ owners, Chef Lupe and Michelle Ledesma, worked for about three months preparing the location. The restaurant facility had to be revamped with air-conditioning and plumbing work, as well as a top-to-bottom makeover, Chef Lupe said at the time of opening.  The menu is still very similar to the restaurant in Islamorada, with the same emphasis on local seafood.

Lazy Days South is coming up on its 10th anniversary and Owner Bernardo Ordeals’ niece; Lupita Ornelas who manages the family owned restaurant have a lot to be proud of as they have won Best Waterfront Dining, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Great views, terrific service, hand crafted drinks, deliciously prepared top quality food and fresh breezes are waiting for you at Lazy Days South.
