This is our 2nd visit to Deja Blue. The menu has been totally revamped since our last visit. As we walked up to the restaurant you can’t help but notice the adorable Cabanas available for more private parties. Upon entering the restaurant you notice the eclectic decorations in and around the host desk. It’s kind of like a collection of souvenirs from around the world.
As we arrived for our 1:30 reservation the hostess checked us in and walked us to our table. This location is very big and it has many separate distinct areas. There is a small lounge area when you walk in just before the bar that is basically a high-top lounge area then on to a beautiful huge bar and a few regular tables. Then towards the rear, there are two trees in the middle of the room with seating all around. We then passed a smaller glassed-in room that looks like it could be used for special occasions. Out on the deck, there is more seating and high-tops around the backside of the bar. All with a beautiful view of the lake and fountain.
As soon as we were seated our server Holly greeted us, brought us water, and took our drink orders I opted for the Classic Old Fashioned and Doris had a Tito’s Mule. Both drinks were on point and had a good pour.
We ordered the Avocado Toast appetizer which is toasted Ciabatta topped with a very generous portion of ripe avocado and lightly dressed arugula. This dish is very easily recognized as part of a healthy Mediterranean diet. We are now fans of Avocado Toast.
The entrees we finally ordered were the Brocheta de Gambas which is comprised of Jumbo Shrimp that are stuffed with Spanish Chorizo and skewered then served over yellow rice with peppers, and olives and topped off with compound garlic butter. It is almost like deconstructed Paella. Just for the experience, you must have someone in your party order a skewer. There is nothing like a hanging skewer with Jumbo Shrimp and Chorizos being presented to you.
Doris ordered an omelet “The Spanish” which consists of a regular omelet filled with Chorizo, Mushrooms, Bell-Peppers, Paprika, and Manchego Cheese served with House Fries and a cup of fresh Fruit. This again was a masterpiece. It was packed with incredible flavors and texture.
Luckily, we had room for dessert. Doris surprised me by pre-reading the dessert menu and requesting the Mango Cheesecake. This is another out-of-this-world dessert that we seem to keep finding as of late. It is a Triple cream, fragrant graham crust cheesecake that is topped with a Fresh Mango and Passion Fruit Coulis.
Overall, the food, drinks, and service were absolutely wonderful. Thank you, Holly! We plan on returning with a larger group and sitting in one of the private cabanas.
There’s also a larger set of Cabanas at the end that can be used for an event venue overlooking the lake. It’s a very nice backdrop for a wedding ceremony.
