City Fish Market

As we pulled up we were very promptly greeted by the valet attendant who welcomed us to the restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant you are almost swallowed up by the grandiosity of the layout.  Immediately to your right, you have a huge live lobster tank along with a sizeable display of fresh seafood. To your left, is a large lounge with a fully appointed bar, booth, and high-top seating.  Towards the rear, there is an enormous glass-enclosed wine cellar along with a stage.  As our luck would have it there was a live entertainer performing when we arrived, ooh na-na.

After reviewing the menus on the website we decided to show up a little bit earlier and take advantage of the Happy Hour offerings in the lounge.  The place was absolutely full, what a festive vibe!  We were able to get two seats at the bar after a minimal wait. Krista, our mixologist, took our drink order, offered us menus, and offered some suggestions and personal favorites.  I ordered a Traditional Old Fashioned with Redemption Bourbon and Doris had a Classic Gin and Tonic. Both drinks were good pours and on point. Krista asked if we had reservations and if we needed to check in. We explained to her that we were going to have some drinks and appetizers and then go over to our table for dinner.  For our appetizers, we had the remarkably tender and perfectly fried Maine Calamari topped with garlicky aioli and a side of marinara sauce. The Spicy “POW POW” Rock Shrimp that was served over crispy rice noodles was an absolute hit. Once we were done we went over to the hostess desk and checked in for a table. Krista was there and again offered one more recommendation.

As we were seated at our table we were greeted by Nick our server for the evening.  Nick went over a few of the menu items with us and answered our questions.  For our entrees, Doris ordered the Baked Faroe Islands Salmon that is Parmesan Crusted and served with Steamed Broccoli and a Crispy Basil Potato Cake.  I had the “New Favorite” Sautéed Flounder Grenobloise topped with  Brown Butter Lemon, Capers & Croutons with Creamy Whipped Potato, and perfectly cooked and seasoned Green Beans.  Everything was absolutely delicious.  I enjoyed my meal and the ambiance so much that I ordered an after-dinner drink so that we could soak the place in a bit more.  The drink was a perfectly proportioned Godmother.

All in all, I can say that everything was fantastic! The atmosphere, ambiance, food, service, and staff, in general, were an absolute delight. Our waiter, Nick was perfect. He was well-versed in the menu and the services provided by City Fish Market.  We loved Nick and Krista’s menu recommendations and their sincere enthusiasm. On our next visit, weather permitting, we would like to sit outside overlooking the lake and fountain upon which the restaurant is located.  Doris loved the beautifully appointed Fireplace that is highlighted by White Washed Bricks, mirrors, and the Trophy Blue Marlin. We wholeheartedly without a doubt would recommend this City Fish Market and plan on having future family events in one of their many private function rooms.
