Our connection to Stallone’s Italian Kitchen in Boca Raton first started when our good friend Sean Lally turned us onto the place. Since that initial recommendation, Doris WithaD and I have made it a recurring destination on our culinary rounds. We even had the pleasure of sitting down with chef-owner Bobby Stallone for an exclusive episode of The Chef’s Table, getting an inside look at the passion, heritage, and uncompromising standards behind his kitchen. Over several visits—including memorable family dinners with my mother and my cousin David—the experience has consistently delivered that unmistakable, high-energy New York red-sauce comfort.
On multiple occasions, we have been fortunate to be seated in Rowin’s section. Sharp, attentive, and remarkably efficient, Rowin keeps the pacing of the dining room effortless from start to finish, ensuring drinks stay full, courses arrive right on time, and every guest feels right at home.
Across our visits, we’ve worked our way through a good portion of the menu, and the food consistently hits the mark:
-
Baked Clams Oreganata: When the hot plate hits the table, you immediately get that great aroma of toasted garlic, oregano, and butter. The clams stay nice and tender, and the breadcrumbs have just the right amount of golden crunch without feeling overly heavy. It’s the kind of dish where you’ll want extra bread handy just to soak up the juices at the bottom.
-
Meatball Appetizer: Solid, old-school meatballs made with a mix of beef and pork that are tender enough to cut with a fork. They simmer in a simple, bright marinara that tastes like it spent plenty of time on the stove. Adding that scoop of cold ricotta and fresh basil on top really pulls it together, cutting through the rich meat with a nice, cool creaminess.
-
South Ozone Park: A great signature cutlet that always hits the spot. It’s a good-sized, crispy fried chicken cutlet topped with prosciutto, sweet roasted peppers, and plenty of melted fresh mozzarella, finished with olive oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar. You get crunch, salt, and a little tang in every bite.
-
Rigatoni alla Vodka: The rigatoni is cooked right to a proper al dente with a good chew. The vodka sauce has a great balance—creamy and smooth with butter and shallots, but not heavy. The sweet peas and sliced mushrooms add nice texture, making this an easy go-to pasta whenever we visit.
-
Chicken Parmigiana: Pure, reliable comfort food. You get a broad, crispy cutlet smothered in their house tomato sauce and a generous layer of melted mozzarella over a big plate of spaghetti. It’s hearty, straightforward, and satisfies that classic Sunday dinner craving every time.
-
Chicken Francese: This one has easily made an appearance at our table at least four times now, and for good reason. Lightly egg-battered chicken sautéed until tender in a classic lemon, white wine, and butter sauce over angel hair. It’s silky, has just the right amount of citrus to keep it bright, and never feels weighed down. It has become one of our most reliable repeats.
-
Chicken Piccata: If you like bright, tangy flavors, this is the move. The chicken is cooked tender in a white wine and butter sauce with a healthy dose of fresh lemon and salty capers over angel hair. It’s clean, punchy, and light on the palate.
-
Chicken Marsala: A richer option with a dark, savory Marsala wine sauce loaded with sliced sautéed mushrooms over angel hair. The sauce has that classic caramelized, earthy flavor that coats the pasta nicely without being overly sweet.
-
Family Style Italian Feast for Two: When we went with my mother and cousin David, this was easily the star of the table. It comes out on a huge platter loaded with homemade lasagna, chicken parm, eggplant parm, sausage with peppers and onions, and a couple of meatballs. It easily feeds more than two people and lets everyone pass things around and grab a little bit of everything.
Stallone’s hits every note of genuine New York Italian hospitality: massive portions, deep generational flavors, and a warm, attentive front of house.
