After taking care of some SoFloDining business down in Miami, Doris WithaD and I decided that it was high time to pay The Bradley a revisit. We had not been back since its grand opening in late November of last year, when we were invited guests of Rick Tobin and his wife. Stepping through the doors after a long, demanding day immediately set the tone for an exceptional evening—and by wonderful chance, we were greeted and seated with our server from that opening night, Angie. Not only did she instantly remember us, but her genuine warmth and sharp attentiveness elevated the entire experience. Angie is a true front-of-house gem who keeps service flowing effortlessly.
The visit started behind the bar with a round of expertly crafted pours. Doris opted for a bright, refreshing Aperol Spritz, while I ordered an old standby with a rich twist: the WhistlePig Maple Old Fashioned. Both drinks arrived with generous, balanced pours—delivering the exact touch of crisp, spirited refreshment needed after hours on the road.
From there, we explored the standout happy hour menu, kicking things off with the Roasted Artichoke Dip. Combining tender roasted artichokes, fresh spinach, and a creamy blend of seasoned cheeses served alongside warm pita triangles, it hit every comforting note with seasoned balance. Next arrived a technical knockout that I rarely encounter on local menus and genuinely hope to see more often: the Skillet Mushrooms. Bathed in a deeply savory Burgundy and cognac reduction, this preparation was a flat-out home run of rich umami and culinary precision.
Doris followed with an order of the French Onion Soup, finished with a classic layered Gruyère crust. The kitchen achieved an outstanding balance of deep, savory broth and perfectly melted, caramelized cheese—a classic done with total confidence that has already secured a spot on my order for our next visit.
For a lighter counterpoint, I selected the side portion of the Sesame Ginger Crunch salad, composed of crisp romaine, shredded cabbage, candied pecans, toasted coconut, red onion, and sweet mandarin oranges. I knew going in that it would be good, but the execution was an absolute revelation. The house-made sesame ginger dressing is easily one of the finest dressings of its style I have ever tasted. Next time around, I will gladly step up to the full entrée portion and top it with fresh grilled mahi.
Leaving no room for dessert, we walked away thoroughly impressed by the culinary execution, Angie’s standout service, and the sheer value: the entire feast came in at under $50. It makes an airtight case for the best happy hour in town, and we will certainly be returning with an even bigger appetite.
