While doing some Christmas shopping at the Boca Town Center Mall, Doris and I worked up an appetite and discovered Bazille, located on the second floor inside Nordstrom’s. We really did not know quite what to expect from a restaurant located inside a department store. However, it being Nordstrom’s, we assumed that it would be much better than your average fare.
As we entered the hostess immediately greeted us and asked if we would like a booth or table seating. We chose the booth. The restaurant is an average-sized restaurant with a classically appointed bar/lounge area. Soon after being seated our server Rylee came over and took our drink order Doris opted for a Tito’s Mule and I opted for the Aperol Spritz. Both drinks were prepared excellently and of adequate serving size. For our starters, we decided on the Cilantro Lime Tacos topped with lettuce, yellow pepper, tomato, cilantro lime vinaigrette, and queso fresco. Rylee suggested and offered that we get two or three since most people love them so much. However, we stayed with the two for now. (On our next visit we will definitely order 3 or perhaps a double order!) They are that delicious. In my opinion better than most of the local Mexican restaurants. We also ordered the Crab Bisque which was classically prepared with the perfect balance of flavors, the correct consistency, and just the right amount of crab meat.
For our entrees, Doris ordered the Crab, Mango & Avocado Salad which consisted of jumbo lump crabmeat, organic baby arugula, cucumber, heirloom tomatoes, red onion, cilantro-lime vinaigrette, on a toasted baguette. Doris said that it was so good that it rivaled the Crab Tostada at one of the local seafood restaurants that we frequent. I on the other hand opted for a Braised Beef Sandwich with pickled red onions, jalapeno aioli, on toasted Ciabatta bread. The sandwich was out of this world, again another hit.
We decided to try a dessert, and Rylee suggested that we try the Creme Brulee. She said that it is her mother’s favorite, so we decided to give it a try. Well, this goes to show you always to trust your server. This Creme Brulee was right up there with some of the best that we’ve had. At this point, I normally would say this is a restaurant that we’d like to take family and friends to enjoy. However, it is in the department store, therefore, I would definitely 100% recommend that if you are in the mall or Nordstrom’s, check it out. We do plan on going again. Prices are very reasonable, portion sizes are more than adequate and the food is super tasty.
