Located at the end of another non assuming South Florida strip mall Café Maxx offers top quality food and service in Pompano Beach on E. Atlantic Blvd. right before the drawbridge. From the moment that we entered I could see that this was going to be a good night. As Darrel Broek, the host and one of the owners of Café Maxx, walked us to our table. I glance at some of the set tables and noted to myself that they were all perfectly set, every setting was identically placed and every table impeccably uniform. As soon as we were seated our server, Jane, introduced herself and offered us water, and took our drink orders. Shortly after she brought us a large basket of fresh mixed bread and then proceeded to take our orders. I must note that one of the unique things at Café Maxx is that the menu is pretty much created daily. Yes, daily! For starters, we had an Escargot Phyllo Purse and the Thai Grilled Sea Scallops both masterfully plated and incredibly delicious. The scallops melted in your mouth and the sauce was so full of flavor. For our entrees, we ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Scampi Linguine Pasta with Garlic Butter & Spinach, Stir-Fried Sesame Seared Sea Scallops Over Japanese Udon Noodles and lastly, Sautéed Jumbo Sea Scallops over Roasted Mushroom Risotto. Again, all the dishes were beautiful works of art and the flavors were unmatched. The Scallops melted in your mouth like butter and the shrimp were tender and moist.
We really enjoyed our experience at Café Maxx and recommend it for that “special occasion” or a romantic date night. This is without a doubt one of the best meals we’ve enjoyed in a long time. I must comment that the service was impeccable. Of course, it’s expensive, but for a special occasion, it is well worth it. I would definitely put Café Maxx on my bucket list as would you if you are a true foodie…
There are not enough words to describe this amazing experience, I’m surprised to have taken this long to make a comment about it. Everything was perfection and the food is divine.
