Doris and I recently took part in a culinary expedition to a spot that has officially redefined our expectations for Italian dining in Pompano Beach. Despite having frequented this plaza hundreds of times, stepping into La Forketta was a true revelation. We have to give a massive thank you to Jennifer James for the great recommendation—she steered us exactly where we needed to be! Accompanied by a group of five fellow Wynmorites, we discovered a venue that doesn’t just serve food; it curates an experience of sophisticated, old-world soul blended with modern culinary precision. This is a rare find: a genuine, passionate venue where the cuisine is the “real deal,” boasting pristine ingredients and a dedication to the craft that appeals to the most educated foodie.
🥂 Bubbles & Botanical Bliss
We began the evening with a touch of European elegance. Doris opted for the Aperol Spritz, a vibrant, perfectly balanced composition that served as the ideal palate cleanser. The beverage program here reflects the kitchen’s philosophy: clean, high-quality flavors served with effortless sophistication. It was the perfect prelude to the feast that followed.
🍝 A Masterclass in Pasta & Pinsa
The menu at La Forketta is a testament to the art of the Italian kitchen. For my main, I chose the Cavatelli with Sausage and Broccoli. The pasta had that unmistakable “al dente” bite that only comes from expert preparation, while the savory depth of the sausage paired beautifully with the fresh broccoli. It was a soulful, robust dish. Doris enjoyed the Pinsa with Mortadella. For the uninitiated, the pinsa is a lighter, more digestible, cloud-like alternative to traditional pizza. This rendition—topped with silky, premium mortadella—was nothing short of spectacular. Looking around our table of eight, the “food envy” was kept at bay only by the sheer quality of everyone’s choices. I spotted the Spinach Ravioli and the Lobster Ravioli being served; our companions were unanimous in their praise, describing the dishes as absolutely delicious and undeniably fresh. The service we received was impeccable—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming.
🍋 The Final Act: Limoncello Perfection
We wrapped things up with a non-negotiable dessert finale: the Limoncello Cake. This was not a pre-made afterthought, but a bright, citrusy masterpiece that provided a clean, decadent finish to an extraordinary meal.
📸 The Ultimate FOMO Moment
The ultimate FOMO comes from realizing you’ve been driving past this gem for years without stopping. I can’t believe we haven’t visited sooner! The real “fear of missing out” is letting another weekend go by without experiencing their authentic pinsa or the lobster ravioli that had our entire table raving.
Don’t make our mistake! Visit La Forketta, take plenty of photos of your stunning dishes, your drinks, and the beautiful surroundings. Tag @SoFloDining to share your experience with your fellow foodies! We are already planning our return—this is officially one of the top Italian restaurants in Broward County.
