Revisit: A Group Tour Through Antonacci’s Regional Specialties and New Additions
When a culinary concept is as focused and authentic as Antonacci Artisan Pizza Cafe, one visit is never enough. We recently made a return trip to this Boynton Beach gem—this time bringing along a lively group of about eight of our closest friends to really put the expanded menu and regional pizza offerings through their paces.
Having a large table allowed us to order an expansive lineup of pies across the menu. Across the board, it was pure raves from everyone at the table. Every single pie was unique unto itself and stood toe-to-toe with the next. Each one is meticulously curated to marry the distinct character of its ingredients—at no point did anyone look down and think, “Hey, that doesn’t belong on there.” The balance of flavors on that signature blistered sourdough crust is so refined that picking a single favorite is nearly impossible.
In addition to their regional pizzas, Antonacci has expanded their offerings to include scratch-made appetizers and pasta dishes that demand equal attention.
The Appetizers
-
Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms: Two large, hearty portobello caps stuffed generously with sweet Italian sausage, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. Savory, juicy, and so satisfying that you could easily make a complete meal out of them. A standout dish that alone warrants another visit.
-
House-Made Meatballs: Two massive, tender meatballs served swimming in a delicate, rich homemade marinara sauce with just a subtle note of heat, crowned with a cool dollop of fresh ricotta.
-
Grilled Octopus Salad: Wonderfully tender charred octopus served over a vibrant tricolor salad of peppery arugula and ripe tomatoes, perfectly dressed in a light, bright vinaigrette.
The Regional Pizza Showcase
-
Marche (White Pie): An earthy, layered white pie featuring vibrant purple potatoes, creamy ricotta, fresh mozzarella, aromatic house pesto, rosemary, and tangy pepperoncini peppers, finished with a sharp dusting of Pecorino and EVOO.
-
Sardegna: A seafood revelation topped with thinly sliced, tender grilled octopus, whole-milk mozzarella, fragrant garlic, fresh parsley, Pecorino Romano, and extra virgin olive oil.
-
Valle d’Aosta: A rustic northern combination balancing savory, crispy pancetta with slightly bitter chopped broccoli rabe, whole-milk mozzarella, garlic, and EVOO.
-
Lazio: A bright, Mediterranean-forward pie featuring roasted artichoke hearts, sweet sun-dried tomatoes, house pesto, mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, and a finish of EVOO.
-
Calabria (Spicy): Bold and unapologetically fiery, layered with spicy Calabrian sausage, briny green olives, garlic, fresh basil, red chili pepper flakes, mozzarella, and EVOO.
-
Piemonte (Mild Spice): A stunning interplay of sweet, creamy, and gentle heat combining lush burrata, savory ham, sweet fig jam, and a drizzle of hot honey.
-
Lombardia: A comforting, classic profile featuring savory sweet fennel sausage, melted mozzarella, fresh parsley, oregano, fragrant rosemary, and aged Parmigiano-Reggiano.
The Finish
We wrapped up the evening with a round of expertly brewed coffees and cappuccinos that were rich, smooth, and absolutely delicious. With portions as generous as they are, every single person at the table walked out with pizza to take home.
All in all, Antonacci is well worth the trip. There is simply no pizzeria like this around South Florida. Remember, this is a true regional culinary map—every pie is thoughtfully curated around the authentic, popular ingredients of that specific Italian province. So don’t walk in looking for an Americanized “meat lover’s” pie; come ready to experience how Italy actually eats.

Every pie is built on a house-made sourdough crust and blistered to perfection inside a cherry wood-burning oven imported directly from Italy.
