When the search for Fort Lauderdale’s Most Iconic Chinese Restaurant leaves you overwhelmed, trust the awards: Rainbow Palace is the unequivocal “must-visit.” This restaurant has been a well-kept secret since the early 1990s, boasting 20 AAA 4 Diamond Awards and making Open Table’s Top 100 Restaurants in America.

The atmosphere is one of vibrant, classic celebration. Throw away all your clichés—this is a Hong Kong Style Chinese food restaurant with service that is classic and on point. The impeccably clean dining room is large but broken into smaller sections. Upon entry, you are greeted by a wall full of prominently displayed industry awards. The host provided classic etiquette service (pulling out a seat, presenting a napkin) that has long been abandoned and forgotten elsewhere, much to Doris’s delight.

The flavors are extraordinary. You absolutely must try the acclaimed cocktails and appetizers. The Mai Tai (with Bacardi Gold, Meyer’s Dark, and Bacardi Light) was one of the best I’ve ever had (and 1 is enough for sure). For an appetizer, the Sesame Scallops Grand Marnier—two Jumbo sea scallops in a delicate Grand Marnier sauce—are so big and delicious they could be an entrée elsewhere.

For the main course, you must not miss the fresh, expertly prepared dishes. The Sweet and Sour Chicken Special was light, delightful, and very pleasing to the eye. The Shrimp Gwin Jin featured 4 Jumbo Shrimp sautéed in rice wine and soy sauce to create an unmistakably savory smoky flavor. The Seafood Fried Rice consisted of shrimp, calamari, and scallops with diced fresh vegetables and a touch of ginger. All the dishes by far exceeded any expectations I had, using only the BEST and FRESHEST ingredients.

Rainbow Palace offers dining experiences that few other restaurants dare to attempt, specializing in classic service and elevated Chinese cuisine. The service was exceptional, and the wine list is one of the best in Fort Lauderdale. The food arrives tableside on a gueridon cart via a runner, adding to the classic experience.

The ultimate FOMO moment comes from realizing this is a secret you want to share but also keep all to yourself. We can’t wait to come back, SOON!

This restaurant’s high praise means you must make your reservations early on Open Table as they get booked up fast. They have additional parking in the rear lot for your convenience.
