Doris and I recently stopped into Quarterdeck in Plantation for a late lunch after a day out exploring the culinary scene. While Doris has frequented this local favorite for many years, this visit marked my very first time walking through their doors. Our time spent at this neighborhood staple was truly eye-opening, perfectly blending a lively sports bar atmosphere with a welcoming, authentic local’s environment.

A Fresh and Open First Impression

The minute you step inside, it is immediately clear that Quarterdeck prioritizes comfort and cleanliness. The space has a fantastic openness that makes you feel right at home. Shortly after we were seated, our server, Jai, came over to welcome us. She walked us through the daily specials and filled us in on their incredible weekly lineup. For instance, we had no idea they offer a $6 half rack of ribs for Wednesday’s lunch—an absolutely incredible deal for a neighborhood spot. To drink, I kept it classic with a Coke, while Doris went with a refreshing Mule.

Burgers, Sushi, and Seafood Done Right

We kicked things off with a California Roll for our appetizer. It was a very nice-sized roll—rolled tight, packed with freshness, and bursting with flavor. If you think a neighborhood sports bar can’t pull off great sushi, this will completely change your mind.

For the main course, Doris ordered the Patty Melt. It was a massive, high-quality burger served on a Texas-cut marble rye. Everything about it was excellent and perfectly proportioned. The rye was toasted just right without being overly buttered, and it held its structural integrity beautifully. Even the half we took home stayed perfectly intact.

I went with the El Dorado fish sandwich, and it was nothing short of a masterpiece. This dish features an incredible combination of flavors: fresh blackened mahi-mahi, roasted fresh red peppers, fried dill pickle slices, lettuce, and a savory herb aioli on a soft ciabatta roll. The precision of the textures and flavors is outstanding. Anyone who genuinely enjoys a great piece of seafood will absolutely love this sandwich. I know I will definitely be back for it.

The Verdict: A Must-Visit

From the pristine cleanliness to the top-tier execution of both burgers and seafood, Quarterdeck stands out as a true gem in the local dining scene. A special thank you goes out to our server, Jai, who was absolutely perfect and made our visit memorable.

Picture this: It’s a warm afternoon. You’re biting into a perfectly blackened piece of fresh mahi-mahi, the crunch of a fried pickle hitting just right, while catching the game on a big screen with an ice-cold drink in hand. Meanwhile, the table next to you just got served a steaming half-rack of ribs for the price of a fancy coffee. If you aren’t here on a Wednesday afternoon enjoying these lunch specials, you are quite literally missing out on the best neighborhood experience in Plantation.
