Tatts & Tacos Beer Garden

After hearing so many great things about Tatts & Tacos from several of our group followers Doris and I decided it was time to pay them a visit.  This Oakland Park eatery has been flying under our radar for a few years now.  I saw it busy as we drove past them on our way down Dixie Highway in the  Oakland Park Arts District.  We visited on a Sunday afternoon and were pleased to find out that all day Sunday they offer an in-the-biz promotion.  They offer patrons who work in the food service industry up to 50% off bills.

Once you arrive you will walk through an outdoor seating area that resembles a Beer Garden, hence the name Tatts & Tacos Beer Garden.  Upon entering the building you come upon two beautiful fully appointed bars.  Immediately to the right after the large open general-purpose area followed by indoor seating.

After being greeted and seated our server Angel took our drink orders and gave us the time to review the extensive delicious menu.  For our drinks, Doris ordered the Mula Mula which is basically a Mule made with Teramana Silver Tequila.  I was a bit daring and opted for the TNT Chocolate Peanut Butter Old Fashioned made with Bulleit Bourbon, Peanut Butter Whiskey, chocolate bitters, orange peel, and Americana Black Cherries.  Both drinks were excellent in pour and flavor, in fact, they were so good that we both had a second round.  For our meals, Doris ordered the Honey Lime Pan Seared Shrimp Tacos served with lime, slaw cabbage, corn salsa, and fresh cilantro.  You do have an option of having the shrimp pan-seared or fried.  I ordered their version of Birria Tacos which is a delicious twist on a famous taco!  It comes with three crispy tacos stuffed with their house-marinated Pulled Pork Birria and cheeses, topped with fresh cilantro and white onions.  This was my first time trying a Pork Birria and it will not be my last.  If you like Beef Birria you will love Pork Birria.  The portion sizes of both entrees were more than adequate.  We did manage to save room for dessert. We opted for the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake which I can only describe as the Cherry that topped the Sunday. (pun intended)

We without a doubt will definitely be returning and bringing more people with us.  Next visit I want to play with their giant Jenga set.  The tucked-away location only adds to its appeal.
