During our latest visit to the Trade Winds Island Resort on St. Pete’s Beach, Doris and I had the opportunity on more than one occasion, to dine at the Flying Bridge Bar & Grill.
Our first visit was at lunchtime. I ordered the Bridge Burger which is 100% Angus Beef cooked to order with Lettuce, Tomato, and Onion. Doris had the Gyro, a Greek favorite with traditional Beef and Lamb, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onion, and Tzatziki Cucumber Sauce served in Pita Bread. My burger was cooked perfectly to temp and both dishes were delicious.
A few nights later we returned for dinner. We split an order of the Shrimp Brochette which consisted of 10 Grilled Shrimp on a Bamboo skewer with Tropical Mango and Curry Dipping Sauce. For entrees, I ordered the Florida Fruit Salad which is made with Orange Slices, Seedless Watermelon, Strawberries, Blueberries, Feta Cheese, Arugula, Romaine Lettuce, Candied Pecans, and Honey Vinaigrette. What a medley of flavor, I could have this salad every day of the week. Please note that I am not a “salad person.” Doris totally enjoyed her Fried Crab Cake Sandwich. So much so that I was only able to try a tiny nibble of the sandwich that was made with a Jumbo Crab Cake, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, and Spicy Cajun Mayonnaise. For our drinks, Doris had the Mango Tango Margarita made with Mango Tequila, triple sec, orange juice, and margarita mix. I had the Berryer Reef made with Dark rum, blackberry brandy, orange juice, and grenadine. Both drinks were good pours and well worth the price. We enjoyed our poolside dinner and know that we will be back on our next visit.
On our last evening at the resort, it began to rain so we had to abandon the fire pits and find somewhere to wait out the rain. While waiting we ordered a round of drinks and an evening snack. The Crispy Chicken Fingers that were breaded Chicken Breast Strips, fried and served with BBQ Sauce was an excellent snack.
On all 3 visits, we received wonderful service (Emily, Colleen & Ryan), great food, and cold drinks. Thank you and we will be seeing you soon. Don’t forget to let them know that their friends at SoFloDining sent you. Chef Dan & Doris WithaD #SoFloDining
